How do I sign up?
It's simple! Fill out the enclosed application and mail it in. If you have any questions, please call the Olympic Center Arena Office at 518-523-1655.
Do I need to send anything else with my application?
Please also send in a 50% deposit before May 1st (balance due May 15th), and full payment after May 15 th . Also include two passport size photos. These photos will be used for two ID cards (one for the skater, one for the parent).

What are the ID cards used for?
The ID cards are used for admission to the Saturday Night Ice Shows, Freaky Fridays, the Lake Placid Summer Figure Skating Championships and the Lake Placid Ice Dancing Championships. New this year, skaters will be required to bring their ID cards to the rink in order to check in for their sessions. It will help with monitoring the ice sessions.
How can I sign up for lessons?
Private coaching is available for all disciplines – freestyle, moves in the field, dance, pairs and figures. Please make all coaching arrangements directly with the coach of your choice using the contact information provided in this brochure.
Do I need to sign up in advance for group classes?
No. Simply purchase a group lesson ticket at the Box Office and go to the class of your choice.
How do you purchase tickets?
Tickets for private instruction, on- and off-ice group classes and extra ice tickets can all be purchased at the Olympic Center Box Office. Their hours are: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sundays during orientation. You can leave a credit card permission form on file at the Box Office for your child to use to purchase tickets. We strongly recommend that you purchase tickets on a weekly basis as there are NO REFUNDS on unused, lost, or stolen lesson tickets. Tickets may be exchanged at the Box Office for another professional.
What is your refund policy?
There will be no refunds on lockers, testing, extra ice cards or harness cards. Refunds will only be given for unused lesson tickets, on- and off- ice classes and ice time when the skater misses two or more weeks of continuous ice time due to a medical reason. Refund requests must be made in writing to the Arena Office with a doctor's note attached. Refunds are subject to a 15% filing fee and take 4-6 weeks to process. If a refund is approved, a check will be mailed to the address specified. Please note: THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR LOST OR STOLEN LESSON TICKETS. THEY ARE TREATED LIKE CASH.
Where can my child stay in Lake Placid ?
For the second year, we are offering housing at the Olympic Training Center . It's a great opportunity for skaters to maximize their training by using all the facility has to offer. I cannot come with my child. How do they get to Lake Placid ?
Adirondack Trailways bus company drops off and picks up in Lake Placid. Their website is www.trailwaysny.com and their phone number is 1-800-776-7548. The city of Albany also has a bus stop (www.greyhound.com), a train station (www.amtrak.com) and an airport. The Olympic Authority can arrange transportation to and from Albany. Can my coach from home come?

Does the schedule stay the same during competitions and test sessions?
The weeks of the free skating and ice dancing competitions and test sessions will not be sold. If there is ice available, you may buy a punch card and use it to walk on to available sessions. ORDA reserves the right to change the schedule for special events, etc. PLEASE CHECK THE FIGURE SKATING BULLETIN BOARDS REGULARLY FOR ANY CHANGES.
We want to extend our stay in Lake Placid now that we are already here. Can we do that?
Of course! We will gladly upgrade your plan for the difference plus a $10 filing fee.
Why does my skater want to do on-ice group classes?
We feel that the on-ice classes are a great way for your skater to benefit from all of the elite coaches in Lake Placid . There are a wide variety of classes available to work on all aspects of your child's skating.
What are the off-ice classes like?
As you know, what you do off-ice affects what happens on it. Our off-ice training program is designed to maximize performance through conditioning, strength, flexibility and style. Each class adds something unique.
Can my skater eat at the arena?
The Gold Medal Café is open from 8:30am-3:30pm Monday through Saturday for breakfast and lunch. It is located between the 1932 and 1980 Rinks.
Is there any place to go between sessions?
There is a skater's lounge that your skater is welcome to use during the day
