Ballet -
Mondays & Wednesdays 10:00am & 11:00am
This is a classical ballet class specific to skaters. It will help teach skaters the importance of posture, technique and expression. The class itself will consist of barre and centre work that helps skaters to feel rotation and the work of the ankles and toes, which is important to jumping. Michela Boschetto, the instructor, has taught this class for 10 years to skaters from beginner through Olympic levels.
Dance -
Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 10:00am & 11:00am
In this class, students will learn the fundamental skills of dance and how these skills relate to skating through a variety of dance styles that include ballet, jazz, musical theater and hip hop. The classes are fun, yet challenging. They help to bring passion to each students' skating and help them to be present in their movement and emotions. Private lessons are available throughout the day by appointment.
Dartfish Video Analysis -
by appointment only
The Dartfish Video Analysis system allows skaters and coaches to use cutting-edge technology to evaluate, compare and improve their skating. Skaters may record their skating and through the use of “SimulCam” and “StroMotion” compare it to previous recordings and recordings of other skaters. Dartfish will be available by appointment only.
Fitness -
Mondays-Fridays 11:00am & 1:00pm
Fitness classes are specifically designed to meet the needs of skaters of all levels and backgrounds. The focus is on skating specific strengths. We emphasize enhancing balance, core strength, and overall athletic ability through the use of Swiss Balls, balance apparatus, sport cords and innovative low impact strength training. Unlike typical resistive training with weights, this class will focus more on coordination, flexibility, and agility. The benefits derived from the class can have can have a direct and measurable effect with on-ice performance. This class works synergistically with the skaters on-ice program and reinforces specific motor skills. Group classes will be offered Monday through Friday. Individual sessions are available by appointment. Instructors with substantial figure skating and exercise science backgrounds will generally teach classes.
Trampoline -
Mondays-Fridays 12:00pm & 2:00pm
Trampoline training focuses on basic jumping technique, stressing tight body positioning with respect to multi-revolution jumps. Each skater will learn to coordinate body movements and gain control of their jump rotation. The trampoline will expand the athlete's comfort zone by increasing body awareness, hence reducing the fear factor and contributing to improved confidence. Safety will be stressed and there will be no allowance for inverted maneuvers. Instructors with substantial figure skating and exercise science backgrounds will generally teach classes.
Yoga-
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:00pm
The practice of yoga (meaning union) fosters greater self-awareness and feelings of self-worth in a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere. The classes are designed to incorporate serious principles in a playful and fun environment. Some classes are serene and introspective while others are more celebratory and aerobic to cultivate creativity, spirit and freedom of movement. The instructor, Mimi Wacholder, is a nationally recognized RYT (certified Registered Yoga Teacher) as well as a former internationally ranked ice dancer. She combines her expertise in both fields to offer a class designed to custom fit the off-ice needs of the figure skater in training.
